What is happiness? Is it planning your holiday, having a day off work, getting together with friends and family? Is it shopping, finding your ideal partner, playing hard on a Friday night or making heaps of money? How long does this type of happiness last in your life? If lasting happiness was contained in any of the above activities, why is it that our society is plagued with increasing problem of isolation, anxiety, stress, depression and mental health issues?
A key to finding happiness, is that true happiness has to come from inside, not outside. This means that most people are looking for it in the wrong place! They look outside themselves to find something or someone to make them feel happy, rather than looking inside.
What is happiness?
Another key problem is that just like nature, everything has a polar opposite. Where there is happiness, there will also be times of unhappiness and moments of “feeling down.” This is a natural law of the Universe. Too often, society says it is not okay to feel bad, which in itself creates self doubt and self judgment as people struggle internally, because they feel they shouldn’t be feeling how they are feeling. However, it isn’t possible to have happiness all the time. Life would not be balanced.
The key is to embrace the good times and accept the not so good times. To be okay when you feel you are running on two cylinders not six! The way to do this is to learn to take control of your internal state, your Mindset. When you master your emotions, your thoughts, attitudes and reactions, you have taken a quantum leap to create a life with more happiness, inner peace and fulfillment. Mindset Mastery is a fundamental step to life Mastery. It is a critical key to true happiness.
