Challenges and change have been a big part of our lives in the last two years, beyond what we imagined possible. Moreover, professionally and personally. Furthermore, there will be more of both to come. Consequently, more than ever before, we need to tap into our superpowers, to get through these times. When you master the five superpowers I mention below, you are better placed to adapt, and thrive. Additionally, tapping into your superpowers helps you gain control and build certainty. Elevating ourselves above our myriad of challenges, whether they be hikes in fuel, food, supply and distribution, global conflict or health issues, is a must.
While there is no one simple answer to thriving, it does start with you. These five tips, superpowers, will help you right now to build certainty, take control of the things you can. Additionally, become stronger and more resilient, and learn how to program your mind better.
1. Build your Self-Worth and Master these five superpowers
While I will leave a broad discussion of self-worth for another day, here I am referring to self-worth as ‘your sense of your own value.’ We all need to feel valued and know what value we bring to others. Furthermore, self-worth is a crucial ingredient to combat fear and doubt. It’s also a good way to defend yourself against the ‘news’, most of which focuses on negative events. Therefore, to start building your self-worth, here are four questions to consider:
- Who are you?
- What is really important?
- What do you want and why?
- What do you stand for?

2. Connection is the second area to focus on to master these five superpowers
Making time to connect in person with people who matter is important. One of the worst things to do to humans is to isolate them from others. With the prior lockdowns, lack of travel and social isolation, this critical human need has been seriously compromised for millions of people.
Take back your ability to connect and commit to doing this more often. Good social connections build meaning, happiness and give life a purpose. Strong connections are good for your health, your immune system and increase your life expectancy. Enjoy the journey to master these five superpowers, and this critical human need.

Reflection is a less well known superpower to develop. However, it’s an important skill to grow, learn and succeed. Athletes know this skill well, however it is often underrated in today’s business world. Few people take time to actively reflect, because they feel they are already too busy. Ironically, reflection involves slowing down, yet slowing down is often necessary to see both what we can’t see and to speed up.
Ensure you schedule time to think about specific problems or opportunities in your business. If possible, brainstorm with others and listen to their comments with a lens of finding new solutions and opportunities. Moreover, take time to reflect on your day and week. A truly life-changing habit to embrace, especially when you reflect on your successes, small wins, and what you are grateful for. They are the ultimate self-esteem building habits!

Finally, there are things we can control and things we cannot control.
- Focus on the things you can control.
- You can control what you read, watch, think and say.
- The choices you make and the actions you take.
- How you show up and the meaning you put on your experiences.
- Whether you choose to learn, grow and accept change.
- And of course, choices influence health. Health is our number one asset, so make it your mission to look after yours!
