How to Step into Your New Year with Ease
There will be some of you who have set your goals for 2019. There will be others who will be madly creating lofty New Year’s Resolutions in the next few days or even weeks! However, if you want to ensure you achieve your goals this year, then read on. Discover how to step into your New Year with ease instead of struggle, stalling or failure.

|1. If your track record of achieving goals isn’t the best, then keep things simple. Select just one area of your life to focus on. This way you will reach the end of the year having achieved something memorable in at least one area of your life.|
2. Get really clear as to why this time you want to be successful. Ultimately, it will come down to a feeling. If you can’t get excited about it, you won’t stick with it! Over 90% of your behaviours are driven by how you feel. Hold onto this feeling and let it be the driver for your goal.
Make a 100% decision
|3. Now it’s time to commit. Make a 100% decision that you will honestly and consistently focus on this one area. If you only commit 99% I guarantee that the one per cent of you that didn’t – that small doubt or hesitation will ensure you fail. This is how to step into your New Year with ease.|
4. Choose one tiny action that you can easily commit to. Something that may even feel far too easy. It’s more important to create a habit, however tiny, first. This is the way to prove to yourself that you are the type of person who can stick to your goals.
For example: If you want to get stronger but hate going to the gym and don’t like lifting weights – would you be prepared to do one push up every day? Just one? If that feels doable, then commit to this. Anything more than one is a bonus!
Find your equivalent of the one tiny thing that moves you in the direction of your goal.
|5. When you have made this a habit – it might take a few weeks or more, then you can increase the intensity and duration.|
And here’s the best bit.
Importantly, when you start to prove to yourself that you can stick to your plan you will move nearer your goals. Secondly, you will feel more motivated to try other things too. Most importantly, this motivation will magically ripple out into other areas of your life. However, it won’t happen until you take action! Small steps taken consistently are the foundations for success.

- Firstly, because honestly, do you really believe that after one night’s sleep you will magically wake up a new person?
- Secondly, do you believe you will suddenly love exercising and going to the gym four times a week? Especially if you always hated gyms?
- Lastly, will you suddenly give up chocolate, alcohol or junk food when it has been hard to break this habit?
|All this really does is to conjure up feelings of deprivation and hardship. Feelings that your brain will do whatever it can to move away from! And of course, this only results in failure doesn’t it? It’s one main reason New Year’s Resolutions and many goals fail.|
Taking small steps is a critical key for your success. They help you believe in yourself and help sustain momentum. Importantly, they will help you will create tiny habits, the foundations of our lives. Moreover, habits are what will help you achieve your goals.
