Do you believe you have an abundant mindset? In truth, there are really only two key mindsets in life. First, a Scarcity Mindset and second, an Abundant Mindset. It is the latter one, an abundant mindset that is key for success. Ensuring you have your’s firmly set towards abundance is critical, especially when money is the main currency used to purchase goods, pay bills, get paid and pay others. A great reference to understanding more about this comes from Wallace Wattles who wrote ‘The Science of Getting Rich’. In this book, he talks about the difference between an abundant mindset and a scarcity mindset. Furthermore, he says there is an exact science for getting rich. Moreover, the formula, on face value is simple and applies to everything in life.
So, let’s have a look into what makes up an abundant mindset.
There are two mindsets and three ingredients in the formula for getting rich
An abundant mindset consists of three ingredients. Firstly, the pictures that you make in your imagination. Secondly, the thoughts that you think – and you have thousands of these every day. Thirdly, the feelings that you feel. All three need aligning and working on. For that reason, a great starting point is to ensure you have a clear vision, a picture of what you want.
If you cannot imagine yourself standing in your goal, as Neville says, ‘standing in the moment of the wish fulfilled,‘ you must practice this until you can. The clearer your picture the more energy and power it has. Furthermore, your subconscious mind is motivated by pictures. Moreover, when you visualise your goals every day you are focusing the energy of your mind and attention, towards what you want. This is exactly what a champion athlete does when focusing on their goal.
Ensure your thoughts are in alignment with an abundant mindset
Now that you have a picture of your goal, the next step is to ensure your thoughts are 100% in alignment with what you want. This is where most people struggle. You have around 50,000 to 70,000 thoughts every day, and the majority of them have become habitual and are negatively focused. As habits reside in your subconscious mind, outside your conscious mind, you aren’t always aware of what you are saying. Furthermore, your brain has a negativity bias. Unless you discipline and train your mind, you will frequently be thinking thoughts that are not aligned with your vision. Consequently, you must be diligent in monitoring your thoughts.
Every time you say how hard it is, or how unfair it is, or how you aren’t good enough etc, you are falling out of alignment with what you want. Moreover, you are moving further away from an abundant mindset towards a scarcity mindset. Always remember, your thoughts are the shapers and influencers of your life.
Next, you must align what you want with an appropriate positive feeling
Your feelings must be positive and again, in alignment with what you want. The challenge here is we are driven by how we feel, so when we receive an unexpected bill, it’s common to feel despondent and put a negative story around it. As our thoughts influence our feelings, we are likely to feel similar to those thoughts; anything but positive.
Consequently, working on changing how you feel is a key step for creating and maintaining an abundant mindset. Moreover, practising feeling good feelings is critical for creating an abundant mindset. Developing habits and skills that align are key for your success. Furthermore, so is creating some sort of plan to develop your habits.
A simple way to practice changing how you feel is by visualising your goal every day. Imagine you are there and notice what you will be saying to yourself. Observe what you can see, what you are saying to yourself and importantly, feel how you will feel. As your body doesn’t know what is real or imagined it creates chemicals that match the good feeling.
When you practice this consistently you start to create a habit of feeling good, which shapes your inner environment. As what is going on in the inside you shapes what happens in your outer world, you are creating an abundant mindset, an attitude of positivity, can-do and solution-oriented. One where you can see opportunities that were once hidden.
Importantly, if you find it hard to visualise something that hasn’t happened yet, then focus on a great memory from the past. Find a memory which elicits an awesome feeling. Be right there now and your body will elicit the same positive feelings again.
Keeping your mindset focused clearly towards what you want is key.
Action and consistency are vital steps to an abundant mindset
All of the above without action, will not help you create what you want or build your abundant mindset and mind-muscle. Money likes speed, so it’s important when thinking about doing something, that you take action. Schedule tasks into your diary each day and commit to them whether or not you feel like doing them. Furthermore, when you make a habit of planning your day, you may well create a keystone habit. These are important habits that become foundations for other helpful habits for achieving the success you desire.
Consistently ask yourself if your thoughts match your desired goals
When you create great pictures and align your thoughts and feelings with what you want, you have the three ingredients that make up an abundant mindset. If you apply this simple philosophy to everything in your life I guarantee you will be happier, more positive and fulfilled. A simple way to help you keep focused on this is to keep questioning your thoughts. Ask yourself better questions, such as, ‘Does that comment reflect an abundant mindset or a scarcity mindset?’ If not, make sure you shift your focus and change your thoughts.
In conclusion, you now have a simple formula to help you attract more of what you want. All you have to do is practice disciplining your mind to keep it focused on what you want. Furthermore, keep your feelings positive and aligned with what you want and curb negative thoughts. Sounds easy right? Well, the more you practice this the easier it will become and of course, these skills also make up the ingredients of a Mindset for Success.
Now it’s time to embrace these three ingredients and choose to work on creating your own abundant mindset.
